3rd ObservIST Meeting

The 3rd Observist Meeting will be held on 25th June with the objective of promoting the Good Practices identified in the 4th Call, to promote their recognition and sharing.

After the evaluation of proposed practices, in the 4th Call of Observist, by a panel of evaluators, 17 Good Practices were identified in 7 of the 11 defined thematic areas:

  • Higher Education
  • Internationalization
  • Communication
  • Infrastructure
  • Processes and Quality
  • Human Resources
  • Research, Development and Innovation

The panel of evaluators selected the proposal “From Good to Excellent, a workshop of Soft Skills with history” to “Good Practice of the Year”.

The IST community is invited to this Meeting.

Integrating the Sustainable Development Goals into Higher Education

Within the framework of Tecnico Lisboa participation in the “Integrating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) into Higher Education” seminar, two collaborators of the Institutional Studies, Planning and Quality Area (AEPQ), represented the institution in the event. The Seminar was held at the premises of ISCTE-University Institute of Lisbon, on March 21, and focused the contribution of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to the achievement of SGD 4 – “Quality Education”, and SDG 17 – “Partnerships for the Implementation of the Goals”.

The Seminar promoted a space of debate on the importance of HEIs in the implementation of best practices of sustainability (process management and campus operations), in particular, of the following planet SDG’s:

The responsibility of HEIs in a positive environmental impact and their role as agents of transformation and social mobilization in a global changing environment, was therefore recognized by a broad panel of national and international speakers.

iGen – 27th Plenary Meeting under the theme “Caregiver Masculinity”

Within the framework of Tecnico Lisboa participation in the iGen-Equality Organizations Forum, two collaborators of the Institutional Studies, Planning and Quality Area (AEPQ), represented the institution in iGen’s 27th Plenary Meeting. The Plenary was held at the premises of IBM Portugal, in Lisbon, on March 19, under the theme “Caregiver Masculinity”. The meeting focused topics of male parenting -rights and obligations, the promotion of gender equality and the desirable balance between professional and personal live.

Several national and international studies were discussed and these subjects were addressed in a promotional and improving perspective regarding the results achieved in recent years.

9th IREG Conference (Observatory on Academic Ranking and Excellence)

The Studies & Projects Office participated in the 9th Conference of the Observatory on Academic Ranking and Excellence (IREG Observatory), with a communication entitled “Accreditations & Rankings: the experience of Técnico Lisboa”. The Conference took place between the 23-25 May, in Hasselt, Belgium.

Within the conference’s thematic field “Accreditation and Rankings – Two roads to the same goal?” , Técnico-Lisboa presented the work that has been developing regarding rankings’ results in a reverse engineering process, aiming at continuous improvements.

PEOPLE Final conference

Under the PE OPLE Project (Promoting Educational Organization Through People ), which primarily aims at enhancing HR manager skills in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), IST played an active role in the Final Conference on “Sharing Good Practices Obtained in TEMPUS PEOPLE Project”, hosted by the American University of Armenia (AUA)  on 16-17 May, 2017, by presenting a communication entiltled “Quality standards impact in Human Resources Management”

FUP Evaluation: 1993-2006

The first cycle of evaluation of Tecnico Lisboa’s courses  began in the academic year of 1993/1994, in the areas of physics and electrical engineering. Based in two components – internal and external assessment – the first committees of external experts were set up in 1995 under the Portuguese Universities Foundation (FUP), which coordinated the entire process relating to Hiher Education Institutions nationwide. The second cycle began in the academic year of 2000/2001, by reviewing scripts to support internal and external evaluation.
